Halcyon House Antiques is the wonderful shop of Stiles Colwill and Johnathon Gargiulo. It is filled with furnishings and art of quality and is a resource to all who seek to achieve a certain Maryland flavor in their homes. Stiles kindly mixes my new things in with his collection of antique sporting art and other subjects, and displays the work, lamp lit, as if it were already hanging on the walls of a lovely room.
This group of paintings features my gouache work, adapted from my plein air use of the medium, to studio pieces of subjects from the area’s recent Steeplechase seasons. My aim is a lively handling that matches the energy of the subject.
